Description
This report was commissioned by the Geographical Association’s (GA) Diversity and Inclusion Working Group (DIWG) and builds on a previous ‘listening exercise’ as well as the GA’s 2020–25 Strategic Plan, both of which emphasised the need to ‘drive forward initiatives for greater diversity within the Association and support for anti-racist teaching in geography’.
It presents the findings of a qualitative research project that addressed the following questions:
- What are people’s perceptions and experiences of diversity and inclusion in relation to the GA?
- Do GA staff and volunteer teams reflect the diversity of the UK education sector and of UK society?
- What policy and practice recommendations can be made to help make the GA a more diverse and inclusive organisation, in terms of both the people that it serves and the kind of geography that it promotes?
The report concludes with a series of recommendations.
