Teachers are under enormous pressure as far as assessment in core subjects goes, with target setting and value added achievement driving a culture of data gathering and analysis. This article gives a simple explanation of what the statutory situation is for assessment in key stages 1 and 2 and uses some examples of good practice to clarify why and how we can make assessment in geography work for us and our pupils.
